Dealing With Spills On Your Karastan Carpet
I was always a messy kid. Which really did a number on Mom’s carpet. I remember the feeling of dread and panic as an ice cream cone or a soda headed towards the floor. Luckily there are options when your beautiful karastan carpet finds itself on the wrong side of Junior’s pudding pop or tipsy Uncle Steve’s third glass of wine.
With most stains it’s important to act quickly or the stain will settle in. If it’s wine that’s stained your carpet, first dilute it with cold water. Using a towel of some sort, soak up excess liquid –as Mom always said, “Blot. Don’t rub it in.” Then mix 1 teaspoon mild detergent, 1 teaspoon white vinegar, and 1 quart warm water. Apply the solution to the spot and let the carpet dry. Vacuum gently. If chocolate is your carpeting’s kryptonite you must scrape it off immediately and apply the same solution as you would for wine.
This solution is actually quite versatile. It should help you get out coffee, ketchup, crayon, gravy, almost anything that may come between you and a clean and luxurious karastan carpet.
